• Contracting the service of collection, care and custody of abandoned, lost, injured or dead pets found in the municipalities that have entrusted the service to the Consell Comarcal del Baix Empordà Description of the provision: The object of contract is the collection of both abandoned, lost, injured and dead animals as well as those that for reasons of social emergency, court order, police commission or of another nature it is considered necessary to collect within the municipal terms of the affiliated municipalities to the service with suitable means and in a continuous and systematic way as well as the reception and maintenance of companion animals (dogs, cats and ferrets), in accordance with the criteria determined by the Regional Council. In relation to the collection and care of animals, the law 7/2023, of 28 March, on the protection of the rights and welfare of animals in its article 22 says: - The collection of lost and abandoned animals and their accommodation in an animal protection center will correspond to the municipalities. That's why they will have to have an emergency service for the collection and veterinary care of these animals, available twenty-four hours a day.
