- In order to reduce the risk of flooding in the urban area of Los Alcazares, a hydraulic system composed of 2 phases is being designed. In this phase 2, the works of a flood park to capture runoff that reaches the town of Los Alcazares are contracted. through four groups of transversal drainage works, on the AP-7 highway, and laminar in case of extreme episodes, reducing the load of solids that may reach the Mar Menor PHASE 2. FLOODING PARK FOR RUNOFF CAPTURE. T.M. LOS ALCAZARES (MURCIA) The works consist of the execution of a floodable park to reduce the risk of flooding in the urban area of Los Alcazares, reduce the sediment load in flood episodes, and conduct runoff in a more orderly manner upstream of the AP-7 highway to the infrastructures created in Phase 1. They are in total Approximately 307,000 m2 in which a gabion mooring is being carried out, excavation of a floodable park with low water channels, a buffer basin for infiltration, revegetation (21 ha) of tarayal and forests, landscaped flower beds and shrubs, socio-environmental adaptation of the park and replacement of affected services.
