In the field of road safety, the Safe System approach, internationally recognized and included in the "European Union Road Safety Policy 2021-2030" and the "Strategic Action Plan on Road Safety" of the European Commission, suggests acquiring greater knowledge about the different variables that influence road accidents - beyond the usual indicators, such as the number of accidents, deaths and serious injuries -, recommending obtaining other indicators, called Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), key performance indicators, directly related with the prevention of deaths and injuries in traffic accidents.
