In line with technological evolution and the principles established in the Digitalization Plan for Public Administrations and the National Cybersecurity Strategy, the trend in public sector corporate networks is oriented towards architectures based on separate and isolated networks, through protocols that run on Layer-3, such as SD-WAN, to create convergent communications services that allow:
- Increase operational efficiency and reduce management costs.
- Incorporate intelligent and proactive traffic management, especially through application of advanced analytics and artificial intelligence techniques.
- Facilitate native integration with perimeter security systems and operations centers (SOC).
- Allow the use of hybrid links (fiber, 4G/5G, Internet, etc.) guaranteeing the high availability of services.
- Ensure scalability and flexibility when opening new headquarters or launching new municipal services.
In the field of interconnection of headquarters, the Avila City Council intends an even more evolved and robust approach, replacing networks based on SD-WAN with networks Layer-2 with the ability to transport VLANs based on the 802.1Q protocol.
