- The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility concluded a first version of the National Transport Model (MNT) at the end of 2021. This first version of the MNT (MNT 1.0) has been developed on the VISUM modeling software and is calibrated to the base year 2017. The model has been developed as a tool to support the strategic transport planning process in Spain and decision-making linked to long-distance mobility, both for travelers (MNT 1.0 Travelers) and goods (MNT 1.0 Goods). As a planning support instrument, it is important that the model is kept updated to reflect changes in mobility data and patterns and in the transportation network (both in infrastructure and management). and network usage). During the development, calibration and validation work of the MNT 1.0 Goods, several areas of improvement to be made and functionalities of interest to be incorporated into the modeling were detected, which the consultant (INECO) synthesized in the documentation on the model delivered to the Ministry.
